Resonator Problem, need advice

Hey Guys, my resonator is making all kinds of bad noises, it shakes and rattles and sounds like shit. You can hear it over my exhaust, it just sounds aweful, makes my car sound like it is falling apart. Anyway, would it be ok for me to cut the resonator off and weld in a straight pipe in place of it? I don't know what is up with the resonator, but when I push my foot against it when my car is revving, the noise goes away....This is a GREDDY exhaust by the way!! If I take it off will my exhaust sound like crap? Thanks!!

I experienced the same thing with a GReddy exhaust. It was great for about 2.5 years or so, then the resonator went bad. Something inside was rattling terribly at certain rpms. Once I took it apart I saw that the baffling on the inside had broken loose and was rattling against the inside of the pipe. D'oh!!! I got a very expensive piece of 2.25" stainless and had my buddy weld it in to replace the resonator with a straight pipe. The exhaust noise was awful at that point. Sounded like a damn dump truck! We ended up making a custom resonator and haven't had the problem since.
You know, it's a damn shame that we (performance enthusiasts) throw away $500 at a time just to end up with poor quality products in the end. GReddy is a big name company and I believe they make a great product, but from my experience, the product didn't last long enough. I mean, when you bought that exhaust, that should have been the last time you ever had to worry about it, especially at those prices.

I've had the same problem and my brother says its from the weather and driving habits. Frequent short drives that don't burn the moisture out cause them to fall apart.
I'm never ever going to buy a japanese exhaust again. They cost a lot and they don't last either.
Does the JRSC make the muffler and resonator go bad quicker?
